Wikis:
I see a wiki and a blog as both being a tool that students would enjoy using but for different end results. A wiki would allow very easily for group work as the site is editable by all. A blog can be commented on, but the comments must be selected to be viewed, so it really belongs more to the author(s) of the blog who can have say it who posts and if they are added.
The editing is the good and the bad in the wiki- who " polices" the edits to make sure they are adding correct and appropriate information?
Wiki assignments can be as we did things like the "50 state" project. Anything that previously was done as a "report" or "group project" could be turned into a wiki project. Studies of people or countries, types of literature...
Blogs can be used as a sounding board or as a place for students to do daily journal work. Blogs can also be more specific and a book can be discussed or a science project conducted from several locations and results posted on a single blog.
